Official: Orlando adds backcourt depth

Orlando Magic have announced the signings of guards Malaki Branham and JD Davison ahead of the NBA 2026/27 season. The team confirmed both moves as official additions to strengthen the backcourt rotation.

Malaki Branham

Malaki Branham, 23, arrives after his stint with the Washington Wizards, where in 2025-26 he appeared in 28 regular-season games averaging 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.8 minutes. He was traded to Charlotte on Feb. 5 and now seeks continuity in Orlando.

JD Davison

JD Davison joins from the Houston Rockets, where he also played 28 games last season averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 assists. The guard brings pace, playmaking and pressure in the open floor.

Fit in Orlando

Both guards add depth and competition to the rotation with complementary profiles for Orlando’s system. Terms of the deals were not disclosed in the official announcement.

With these additions, Orlando Magic expand their perimeter options ahead of training camp while the final roster shape remains open.
