Valencia Basket has announced the return of Jasiel Rivero. The Cuban center, a free agent after parting ways with Crvena Zvezda this summer, has signed a one-month deal with the Spanish club to reinforce the roster during preseason and the early stages of the official campaign.
According to the club statement, Rivero joined first-team training sessions on August 24 to cover for players away on national-team duty. He now formalizes that temporary commitment under head coach Xavi Albert. The information was reported by Eurohoops and Sportando.
A temporary reinforcement for Valencia
This will be Rivero’s second stint in Valencia. Between 2021 and 2023 he played 105 games for the taronja, averaging 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 12.2 PIR. During that spell he was named Liga Endesa MVP of the month twice, in October and December 2022.
The 32-year-old interior player (6'9") made his EuroLeague debut in the 2022-23 season with Valencia and has accumulated 93 games in Europe’s top competition. After leaving Fonteta, he spent two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv and last year joined Crvena Zvezda, although a foot injury limited him to nine EuroLeague appearances.

Rivero’s signing adds frontcourt depth to a Valencia roster that needed temporary reinforcements ahead of the competitive restart. His familiarity with the club and his ACB and EuroLeague experience fit Valencia’s immediate needs.
