Deal through 2027 to strengthen the paint
Real Madrid has completed the signing of American center Damian Jones on a contract through the end of the 2026-27 season to reinforce its frontcourt.
The move had been leaked a week earlier and was finalized after the Puerto Rican league final, with the club announcement collected by the ACB once the player had been crowned champion with the Vaqueros de Bayamón, a sequence that was reported by TalkBasket and Piratas del Basket and also covered by Mundo Deportivo.
NBA experience and Puerto Rican champion
The 31-year-old center arrives in Madrid after eight seasons in the NBA featuring stints with the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns, among others, and two championship titles, a résumé that brings size, athleticism and high-level pedigree to the rotation.
His arrival follows immediately after winning the Puerto Rican championship, a title that closed his recent spell before joining the Madrid project and explains why the official announcement was delayed even though the agreement was already in place.
Fit for the Madrid project
With this addition, the Madrid side fills the center position it had targeted all summer and adds rim protection, physical presence and veteran experience to compete in the Liga Endesa and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
The club is betting on a physical paint profile to complement its interior rotation and provide continuity across a demanding schedule.
