George, a 22-year-old, 6-foot-4 guard selected 16th in the 2023 draft, has improved in each of his three NBA seasons. In 2025-26 he averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 54 starts, shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three.
That offensive leap made him the Jazz backcourt anchor alongside No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson as Utah pushes toward competitiveness after a long rebuild.

The extension covers five seasons worth $157.5 million total at an average annual value of $31.5 million, placing George among the most significant rookie-scale renewals from his draft class alongside Victor Wembanyama and Amen Thompson. The pact includes no options and runs through the 2031-32 season.
ESPN notes George will earn $6.56 million in the final year of his rookie deal (2026-27) before the new extension takes effect, allowing Utah to plan around its young core without facing restricted free agency.
