Jonathan Kuminga is now a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The franchise has formalized his free-agent signing with effect from September 3, completing a move that had been reported in late August and is now listed in the NBA's official transaction log.

The two-year structure with a 2027-28 player option allows Kuminga to re-enter the market next summer if his production in Minnesota boosts his value. He chose that path over a longer, more lucrative offer from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kuminga brings athleticism, downhill scoring and perimeter versatility alongside Anthony Edwards. On a roster anchored defensively by Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels, the seventh overall pick in the 2021 draft can slot in immediately as a third or fourth offensive option.
His track record across 334 regular-season NBA games — including 40 in the playoffs — and his age fit a project seeking a competitive lift without sacrificing future cap flexibility.
