Valencia Basket has announced the return of Jasiel Rivero. The Cuban interior player is back at Fonteta on a one-month contract that will allow him to join Xavi Albert’s first-team setup during preseason and the opening stretch of the campaign.

According to outlets such as Eurohoops and Sportando, the move addresses the need to cover players away on national-team duty. Rivero had already been practicing with the club since August 24.

The center arrives as a free agent after parting ways with Crvena Zvezda this summer. He is no stranger to Valencia: between 2021 and 2023 he wore the orange jersey, averaging 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and a 12.2 PIR across 105 appearances.

The short-term deal gives Valencia temporary depth in the frontcourt at a demanding point of the calendar. The limited contract length leaves room for the agreement to evolve depending on roster needs and the player’s performance.
