The Denver Nuggets have officially registered Cam Whitmore on a two-way contract for the NBA 2026/27 season, effective September 18, filling their third and final two-way slot. The forward arrives as a free agent after the Cleveland Cavaliers waived him this summer.

Whitmore, 22 years old and 6-foot-6, was the 20th pick in the 2023 draft. Across 119 games with the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards, he has averaged 10.5 points and 3.3 rebounds with 34.9% three-point shooting for his career. His best season came as a rookie, with 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 47 games for Houston.
Last season he appeared in only 21 games for Washington —9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds— before a blood clot in his right shoulder ended his year. He passed through Cleveland in a multi-team deal this summer before becoming a free agent and choosing Denver.
Fit within Denver's structure
The two-way deal fits the Nuggets strategy of keeping young, scoring profiles at controlled cost. Whitmore brings transition scoring and perimeter shooting, a different profile from Simpson and Hopkins in the development rotation.
