Carter, listed at 6-foot-2 and a Providence product, was selected 13th overall in the 2024 draft by Sacramento. His NBA debut was delayed by left shoulder surgery and, in 2025/26, he dealt with ankle, back and calf issues. Across 74 regular-season games with the Kings he averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 14.8 minutes on .401/.274/.674 shooting.
As a college junior he was Big East Player of the Year with 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Atlanta acquired him at the end of June along with a 2033 second-round pick in a move Hoops Rumors framed as part of Sacramento cost-cutting strategy.
